The Process of Jatropha Seed Oil Extraction

Jatropha is considered to be a tropical plant that is believed to have seeds that produce high oil quantity. The first thing that you need to do in the jatropha seed oil extraction is to collect all the mature seeds. To be able to know that the seeds are mature, their blooms simply fall off. Once you have all the seeds on hand, you will be required to heat them using the method that you prefer. As you do this, you are highly advised to be very careful so that you do not end up burning the seeds especially if you are using fire.

Once done with the above step, you will be required to press all the grounds seeds gently in order to extract oil from them. The equipment that you will need to do this is simply a ram press which contains a hopper. You are required to fill the hopper with all the seeds that have been ground. Increase the pressure gently until there is a sign of oil flowing out. Continue doing this until no more oil is flowing. Lastly, use a pail to catch all the oil that has been extracted from the seeds. Leave the solution for sedimentation for duration of about 1 week before you can process the oil.
